ICEMA announces web site,
scholarship applications for members

SPRINGFIELD - August 5, 2003 --
The Illinois Correctional Employees Memorial Association has announced creation of a new web site at www.icema.us. This announcement is in conjunction with the opening of the 2003-2004 ICEMA Scholarship Application process. Applicants must be a permanent Illinois residents and the family member of an ICEMA member. Applications are due by Sept. 30, 2003. An application package can be downloaded from the new ICEMA web site. Instructions for the process are also on the site. In addition to the web site, application forms have been sent to each Illinois Department of Corrections facility.   To become a member of ICEMA, contact your IDOC payroll officer. Dues are $24 per year and can be deducted from the paychecks of corrections employees at $1.00 per pay period.   ICEMA has a new mailing address. All correspondence should be directed to ICEMA, P.O. Box 5417, Springfield, IL 62705-5417. Do not send mail to the Concordia Court address.

Illinois Correctional Employees Memorial Association awards first college scholarship
to daughter of deceased employee

SPRINGFIELD - May 9, 2002 --
The Illinois Correctional Employees Memorial Association Board of Directors (ICEMA) today presented a $10,000 college scholarship to Katrina Sheneise Washington of Joliet during the dedication of the Memorial Wall at the Illinois Department or Corrections Headquarters in Springfield. The scholarship is presented in memory of the service, dedication and sacrifice made by her father, Illinois Youth Center at Joliet Youth Supervisor Henry B. Washington, who died in 1986. The scholarship is in recognition of Kristina's academic achievement.   ICEMA is a non-profit corporation established in 2000 at IDOC. The constitution of ICEMA states as one of its purposes is to provide for the children of those who were killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty through the establishment of scholarships, grants in aid, gifts or financial assistance. This is the first scholarship awarded by ICEMA.
